From 16th to 19th April 2026, our school was proudly represented at the European Youth Parliament (EYP) National Session, held in Covilhã. The event brought together students from across the country for four days of debate, teamwork and cultural exchange focused on European and global issues. Our students Clara Pinto and Mafalda Mortágua, accompanied by their teacher Júlia Lopes, actively participated in this enriching experience. Throughout the session, the students worked in international committees, discussed current political and social challenges, developed resolutions, and strengthened essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking and cooperation. Beyond the academic dimension, the National Session also offered an opportunity for cultural exchange, allowing participants to meet young people from different regions, share perspectives and build lasting connections in a dynamic and inspiring environment. The participation of Clara Pinto and Mafalda Mortágua in the EYP National Session reflects their commitment, curiosity and engagement with European citizenship values. We congratulate the students for representing our school with dedication and enthusiasm in this prestigious educational initiative.
Mafalda Mortágua testimony Taking part in the European Youth Parliament (EYP) was a truly memorable experience for me. It gave me the chance to step out of my comfort zone, meet people from different backgrounds, and discuss important global issues in a collaborative and respectful environment. I developed not only my public speaking and critical thinking skills, but also learned how valuable teamwork and open-mindedness are. Beyond the academic side, the friendships and moments we shared made it even more special. I would strongly encourage other students to participate, as it is an experience that helps you grow both personally and intellectually.
Clara Pinto testimony For four days - 16th to 19th April - I participated in the National Session of EYP in Covilhã, staying three nights in the serenity of Serra da Estrela. During the session,I discussed current problems of the EU in a way to propose solutions that I presented on the last day, having to do speeches and debate the committees' goals. Being amongst almost a hundred other delegates, I had the opportunity to connect with other people from Portugal, as well as from Greece, Armenia, Switzerland, The Netherlands and more by doing activities organised by the EYP team on the first day and throughout the session. With this, I was able to experience new environments and routines and develop useful skills for future projects.
Por ter atingido uma taxa de execução superior a 90% nas atribuições de kits de computadores portáteis, o Agrupamento de Escolas Ferreira de Castro vai receber o Selo de Escola Digital, uma forma de reconhecimento pelo empenho e pela implementação de estratégias e procedimentos que têm potenciado a concretização de uma efetiva Escola Digital.
O Selo Escola Digitalcertifica que o Agrupamento foi considerado uma “Escola Digital”, por ter implementado uma estratégia que permitiu a disponibilização de kits de computadores portáteis e conectividade a alunos e professores, dotando-os das ferramentas consideradas necessárias para que se desenvolvam competências para dar resposta aos desafios digitais do presente e do futuro.
O “Dia dos Direitos Humanos” é assinalado pela comunidade internacional a 10 de dezembro. Tem como finalidade comemorar a data da adoção, em 1948, da Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos (DUDH), por parte da Assembleia das Nações Unidas. Com base na análise dos 30 artigos que compõem a DUDH, os alunos de Economia C (12.º D; 12.º G) realizaram um conjunto de atividades (cartaz, vídeos e quizz), que partilharam com os colegas, para assinalar o dia e refletir sobre o facto de, séc. XXI, se continuarem a violar direitos básicos e essenciais, mesmo em países considerados desenvolvidos.
Para esta época natalícia, os alunos do 8.º ano, que integram o Clube de Pensamento Computacional, prepararam algo especial. Com recurso ao software TI-Nspire CX Student Software, gentilmente cedido pela Texas Instruments criaram uma animação a integrar um Postal de Natal. Esta animação foi criada com recurso ao Módulo Turtle, um módulo Python que oferece funcionalidades de desenho, com comandos simples. Acompanhados pela professora Sandra Mónica Pires, responsável pela dinamização desta atividade, os alunos, de forma criativa e eficaz, tiveram oportunidade de contactar com a programação baseada em texto com Python.
