On March 10th and 11th, Ferreira de Castro once again enthusiastically hosted the traditional Spelling Bee, an activity that has been increasing in popularity and involves students from the 5th to the 12th grade. The event provided moments of great excitement and competitive spirit, encouraging participants to show their skills in the English language.
The Spelling Bee is a competition originally from the United States, where students are challenged to spell words correctly. The competition began with an initial phase in which participants wrote down 15 words on a sheet of paper, allowing the selection of the students with the highest number of correct words to advance to the final stage.
In this decisive stage, the finalists took the stage and had to spell words correctly into a microphone. With each round, the tension increased as participants showed their knowledge to an attentive audience. The panel of judges, composed of English teachers and students from our school, had the responsibility to carefully evaluate each response.
At the end of the competition, the winners were awarded with medals, certificates, and books. The two runners-up from each grade also received a medal and a certificate, reinforcing the importance of participation and effort.
The success of the event was not only due to the enthusiasm of the contestants but also to the essential support of the English teachers, who worked very hard to ensure the competition’s organization. Special thanks are also due to the students of the professional course responsible for sound and multimedia, who ensured the technical quality of the event.
Once again, the Spelling Bee proved to be an enriching initiative, promoting love for the English language and promoting students’ confidence in expressing themselves in public within a healthy competition. Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and effort. The next edition of this exciting competition is already eagerly anticipated by everyone!
